The Toronto Transit Commission was faced with an intersection that required a pavement repair — but in the process the intersection’s crosswalk was removed. December temperatures and predicted rain and snow created a problem, so the TTC decided they needed to find a way to dry and heat the pavement so it could accept paint. The used the Zirocco, distributed throughout the Americas by Almon Equipment in Toronto. The Zirocco is a surface cleaner and dryer that delivers 3,500 cubic feet of air per minute at temperatures between 660 and 1,020 F at the pavement surface. Working at a drying speed of up to 4 mph, the TTC rented the unit and in less than 10 minutes dried enough of the pavement so the crosswalk could be striped.

It doesn’t matter, its still Star Trek. Unless he’s living on some rural colony somewhere tech is still going to play a part of the show. DS9 wasn’t really technology focused either set on an old Cardassian mining station and not a sleek science vessel but it was still a big part of the show and even presented new things like the holo tech communication.

My claim is that there is no observational evidence of Mannkind’s CO₂ emissions causing planarity warming. This work is interesting, but, inapplicable, for these reasons: (1) Feldman and pals don’t claim any warming (2) Feldman and pals work is not observational (due to the computer model’s “counterfactual spectra” (3) Feldman and pals’ work is not applicable, due to restrictions on just “clear sky”

I didn’t say they won’t be problems with the show overall, I’m talking about the advance technology presented and you know it.

I really liked “Brother” a lot, a *lot*. Great opening for the season arc, want to know more, well written, including the characters, loved Pike, just the right amount of humor and lightness, great acting, even by Martin-Green, who I didn’t like at all in season 1, visually an absolute stunner, triple-A special effects & production design, even for a theatrical film, though I didn’t care for the over-the-top & unnecessary debris field race—but I guess in episode 1 you need some dumb action, too, to keep certain viewers hooked (and subscribed!)—, very good score (except the main title), well edited & paced. I’m a little skeptical about the whole red-angel-wants-to-destroy-the-galaxy thing, which sounds kinda lame, to be honest, but we’ll see. Will definitely stick around. That one episode was better than the whole first season. Just wish there had been a touch of emotion between Sarek & Burnham at the end, at least coming from Burnham, but maybe they want to wait with these kinda things until later in the season or series, when she’s become more human, less Vulcan. I do want to see a bit more sophistication in terms of genre plots, some hard SciFi. After all, this is Star Trek: less doomsday fantasy please.

I do wish we could’ve saw more of the town though and get a sense of how life worked there. We got to hear about their beliefs, but little else in terms of their actual lives and how their religion plays a part of it.

We have wrapped up Fire Creek manpower for — underground manpower for 76 to about 110 through transfer of Midas and Hollister miners. Our contractor has brought in a road header at Fire Creek, and it is easily cutting the soft cup material, which is helping to speed up development, and we are considering a wider application of this type of machine. We’re planning to increase Fire Creek throughput midyear to about 520 tons per day from 340 tons per day, which was the fourth quarter average, which means that the goal production will be weighted toward the second half of the year. The increased development is an important step for Dean’s group, as we have worked to do on definition drilling to upgrade resources, and exploration to discover additional resources.
