Reading this is just too hard to handle. Either this Trek has Jumped the Shark, or the author had a nice pinchet for overstating… Oh forget it, it’s Jumped the Shark.
I was kinda bored. It reminded me of all those lame TOS episodes. I was more interested in what was going on with Tilly and her cute friend.
DAYTONA opener “If You Know You Know” begins like gas stove about to ignite as Pusha T prepares to set the hip-hop landscape ablaze. What follows the instantly iconic drop is the Virginia Beach hustler in elder statesman mode, crafting whole rhyme schemes to repeatedly address his younger competition as “boys” and enjoying the spoils of his hard-fought battles over the years. Consider it another nugget of wisdom from the trapper-turned-rapper and get “busy earning stripes like a tiger’s skin.” – BRYAN KRESS
VR has the potential to reinvigorate boardgames and Catan VR shows you why. This brings the classic tabletop game to virtual life with amazing animations. Pick your own avatar, find friends online and then sit down for an evening of shaky alliances and betrayals. It also supports cross-play across all of the headsets it’s been released on, making it one of VR’s most accessible online games.
But where Razer really apes the MacBook and 15-inch gaming systems is in its size. The 4.7-pound, 14 x 9.3 x 0.7-inch Blade 15 is one the smallest 15-inch gaming systems you can get on the market. Sure, the 15-inch MacBook Pro (4 pounds, 13.8 x 9.5 x 0.6 inches) and the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin (4.1 pounds 14.1 x 9.8 x 0.7 inches) are lighter, but you can easily fit the Blade 15 on each system with plenty of room to spare. And at 4.8 pounds, 14.3 x 10.8 x 0.8~0.7 inches, the Alienware m15 is the largest of the bunch.
In September 1962, Frederic S. Bocock of the Historic Richmond Foundation and Mrs. Cornelius F. Florman stood in front of one of four new plaques honoring patrons of Church Hill renovations in Richmond. Florman was the granddaughter of Mrs. Richard S. Reynolds; the plaque pictured cited Reynolds’ role in restoring Hardgrove Cottage on North 24th Street.
The compressed air is sent into a vessel containing the mixture at a pressure equal to that fed to a blast hose. The reason for equalizing the pressure is to enable the abrasive mixture to be fed via a mixing valve into an air line. The flow of abrasive is controlled by a full flow valve located between a hopper and a mixing chamber.
In a world of viral campaigns and wall-to-wall marketing, few songs bubble up from Internet limbo to hit status simply because, well, people actually like it. That’s the trick, if you can even call it that, behind British breakout Ella Mai and “Boo’d Up,” which dropped in February 2017 but languished for over a year, until a domino effect of nightclub and radio requests triggered a slow but steady march to No. 5 on the Hot 100. Most R&B successes today belong to one of two camps: the trap-leaning, AutoTune-saturated style of contemporary hip-hop or the wavy, ethereal vibe of quiet storm. “Boo’d” — inspired by Johnny Gill’s Babyface-penned 1992 hit “There U Go” — captures the breezy nostalgia of decades past, anchored by Mai’s smooth and silky vocals. Plus, that nonsensical chorus (“Ba-do, boo’d up / Biddy-da-do, boo’d up”) cleverly plays off a heartbeat sound and is just too fun not to sing along with. Add it all up, and you’ve got cross-generational smash that’s an ideal backdrop for first kisses and 25th anniversaries alike. – T.A.
I disagree with this. First, in “Pen Pals,” the issue seemed to be Data’s contact with Sarjenka, not the research on whatever geological phenomenon was causing the earthquakes. Indeed Wesley headed up some kind of science team to investigate the phenomenon, and Picard referenced this research in “Family.” In “Paradise Syndrome” (and IIRC, “For the World Is Hollow”) Kirk’s crew was also willing to save a pre-warp civilization from asteroid strikes. Then there is Georgiou in “The Vulcan Hello.” There are probably other examples out there.
I am also surprised that NO review mentioned the tech-mania that has now started, even in comparison to season 1. Apparently all flood gates are open now in portraying a wildly advanced future with all sorts of holographic magic, drones, collapsible space uniforms and cybernetically enhanced humans. It is true that this may be more realistic from today’s point of view than TOS was in the 1960s, but this is the bane of prequels – it just wildly contradicts not just TOS, but even the 24th century series by now. They chose to do a prequel for the advantages of connect to TOS lore and characters – but they are totally not willing to be bound by the disadvantages of playing before someone else’s canon.
May I add that they are also approaching the gold standard for serialized Trek here. There IS a separate story for the week with a conclusion, yet it still all ties into the bigger mystery. This is so much better than the “different chapters of a book” approach where they just arbitrarily cut the inter-episode-story with a dozen character arc and storylines into episode-shaped pieces.
First, the good. – It was big, flashy and stylish, and so much more fun than anything we’ve seen in the first season. If they opened the show with this, maybe now I wouldn’t be the last one in my local Trek club who still bothers watching it. – The Pike was phenomenal (though it took some time to get used to his “cowboy” manners). I want him have his own show with Enterprise (and it could even be the Frankenprise, I don’t really care at this point). – Saurian makeup was cool. – Enterprise corridor design used the proper color scheme. – Little Spock’s actor was so *straight out of Yesteryear*, it was almost uncanny. – Tilly was positively shining (even though it felt a bit forced at times).
