The color on the Blade 15′s matte, 15.6-inch display is just as striking as its chassis. However, I wish the 1920 x 1080 panel was a tad brighter. When I watched the trailer for the upcoming Shaft movie, I was captivated by the trio of maroon dusters blowing heroically in the wind as three generations of the titular character walked across a plaza. Details were so crisp that I could clearly read see the word Shaft stamped across a speeding 9mm bullet, as well as the stippling from the gun of the battle.

Philly rapper Tierra Whack’s 15-track, 15-minute debut is the perfect example of what a full-length visual can, and more importantly should, do for an audio body of work. She delivered a multi-part video so striking it demands attention be paid to the music, and vice versa. Each colorful and often jarring clip — one (literal) minute she’s getting a manicure with a brutally busted face, and the next she’s kicking back in a pet cemetery —  shows the ingenuity of an artist unfamiliar with boundaries. Feldman does not claim any planetary warming from his measurements Really, Feldman is just doing what Tyndall did, except, Feldman’s atmosphere is not contained in a brass tube. Come to think of it, Tyndall’s work didn’t extend to longer wavelengths, either. Tyndall used Sodium Chloride ‘rock salt’ windows for his tubes, and that limits the useful wavelengths … rock salt becomes uselessly opaque by about 17㎛.

Thanks, Captain! I wonder the same thing. It’s sort of like the response of Zefrem Cochrane to the Vulcan first contact with Earth. Will he extend a handshake (as in “ST: First Contact”) or a gun (as in “In a Mirror Darkly)?” A pivotal choice. But more likely the first discovery we’re not alone would be that of microscopic life or fossils on Mars or somewhere. Not as dramatic as intelligent contact, but still monumental. You bring up another question I had. If the Enterprise was a “last resort” or however it was they put it, then why weren’t they recalled months earlier when the war was obviously going so very very badly?

Like most conspiracies of this scale, a non-factual counter-argument can be made that it is difficult to imagine so many people preserving the fiction: thousands worked on the Apollo missions; hundreds were responsible for the launch and the landing and were eyewitnesses to its success; most especially, three men were actually in space, two of them on the surface of the moon. So incredible would the feat of faking the moon landing and keeping the reality of the hoax a secret for half a century, that it barely seems worth the effort. It would have been easier to just land on the moon.

This new-jack-swinging Bruno Mars & Cardi B hit is best described by its one-word title. The original track was on Mars’ 2017 24K Magic album, and Cardi helped take the remix to bouncy new heights (including the Hot 100 top five) with her can’t-tell-me-nothin’ intro verse and closing "got it goin’ on" ad libs. After the latter’s brash musical introduction on the No. 1 hit "Bodak Yellow," this was the first crossover hit to put the more playful side of her sense of humor on display. The combination of Mars’ nostalgic R&B paired with Cardi’s Rosie Perez-channeling swagger — all set against a pitch-perfect In Living Color music-video backdrop — was undeniable. – K.A.
