Back in Wetzel County, Lee Martin and her second husband, Chuck, say some things got a little better when EQT took over the drilling from Stone Energy, following a sale of the company in 2017.
Soon enough they find themselves warping into a dangerous field surrounding an interstellar asteroid giving off all sorts of weird readings, baffling the bridge crew. A frustrated Pike demonstrates a new more grounded tone for the dialog this season, exclaiming “I was expecting a red thing. Where’s my damn red thing?” As they have a whole season to get to the bottom of the seven red bursts, this mystery will have to wait, because there’s a ticking clock introduced when they discover a Starfleet ship crashed on the asteroid, and the asteroid will collide with a pulsar in five hours.

Agreed. I would have have figured on a series of vertical and horizontal tubes. I suspect that this may be a nod to the Abrams Enterprise with its giant industrial Engineering section.
Many GCM calculations actually use line-by-line calculations … many, though, don’t repeat the line-by-lines again … they parameterize them to ease computational difficulty.
This July 1961 images show George C. “Skid” Abbott, who had converted the old Gordon’s fish packing house at Buckroe Beach in Hampton into a popular sport-fishing pier that attracted anglers for day and night fishing. Abbott was among many in the area who welcomed visitors to Buckroe, which was a popular destination for Richmonders in the first half of the century as railroads offered direct trips to the area.
There’s a long and tired history of Justin Timberlake using Britney Spears as a punch line, and, sure, the concept of of a disgruntled ex breaking into his former girlfriend’s house and lurking menacingly while she showers hasn’t aged well. But the kind of pettiness on display in the captivating “Cry Me a River” is an extinct breed: a revenge fantasy that doesn’t bother with plausible deniability or subtle shady references, and instead lets its darkest impulses curdle in the open for all to see. It wasn’t pretty, but it swung big – and everyone grabbed the popcorn and gave in to the twisted voyeurism of it all. – N.F.
This March 1966 image shows the Hotel Richmond, which was acquired by the state in June that year for about $2 million and is now used as its Ninth Street Office Building. The hotel, adjacent to Capitol Square, was established in 1904 by Adeline Atkinson at the location of the former St. Clare Hotel.
It’s more outpost than town, really, like a colony on an alien planet or Earth after nuclear winter. I kept thinking this is what it will feel like to be one of the first people on Mars. It’s unnaturally austere and blatantly unforgiving. Racks of diesel block heaters dangle in every parking lot. Every truck is either dirty or frozen. If nothing else, it’s an intense illustration of how desperate we are, as humans, for petroleum. Because shabby as it is, there’s a fantastic amount of money in Prudhoe Bay. Enough to make it worth it for BP and ConocoPhillips to fly in and out three 737s a day, five days a week. That, in turn, throws into focus the brilliance of the road. The only way a gravel trail through such enormous nothingness can exist so flawlessly is when the liquid bubbling out of the earth can support not only life, but also massive profit, in such a ruthless and demanding place.
Maybe they should do what they did the TAS. Environmental belts. That create a force field around the body.
I’m not picking on the format, as often times it works very well, particularly when they become connected in the climax, but an interesting coincidence to come upon this quote today.
