Why don’t you tell us? You seem to have a problem with its usage. So, if you understand it, why don’t you explain why it was used and why you believe it should not be used?
Supposedly that extra bit is Gene Coon’s doing, but regardless, canonically there was some concept of a Judeo-Christian God in TOS. Not that I’m keen on it. But there ya go.

Apart from that, I just don’t see you replicating things just because you can, anymore than you throw perfectly good stuff away after a single use (most of us, anyway.) And if there is a chance you can lose that replifunction, then you’re really screwed if you don’t have old school analog non-magicbox alternatives in place. Somebody upthread was saying you can’t go back to toggle switches on a modern show, but if there is an in-universe justification for practical buttons and such, you can. The Reeves-Stevenses offered one up in MEMORY PRIME that worked for me in a big way.
2. "Resident Evil: Afterlife" (2010)Paul W.S. Anderson directed the first "Resident Evil," then left the director’s chair to someone else — until he returned for "Afterlife." There’s a marked leap in technical wizardry with this one, turning the franchise from B-level afterthought to B-level greatness. This is a movie that actually makes great use of 3D to look awesome.
First, the good. – It was big, flashy and stylish, and so much more fun than anything we’ve seen in the first season. If they opened the show with this, maybe now I wouldn’t be the last one in my local Trek club who still bothers watching it. – The Pike was phenomenal (though it took some time to get used to his “cowboy” manners). I want him have his own show with Enterprise (and it could even be the Frankenprise, I don’t really care at this point). – Saurian makeup was cool. – Enterprise corridor design used the proper color scheme. – Little Spock’s actor was so *straight out of Yesteryear*, it was almost uncanny. – Tilly was positively shining (even though it felt a bit forced at times).
Then he told me the first of many daunting stories I would hear about the Dalton Highway. There was a thundershower, he said, lashing him with rain and hail so violently that he pulled over. When he tried to go again, the surface of the road had become so slippery that his bike wouldn’t move. “These will be better,” he said, gesturing to the Continental TKC80 knobs on my borrowed R1200GS Adventure. John shook my hand and wished me well, but the stories from the legendary road kept coming—foremost, the notorious train of semitrucks that call the Haul Road home.
Dong, Xi & Minnis 2006: âCloud fraction is the dominant modulator for determining insolation on the surface, nevertheless cloud-base height (temperature) is more important for downwelling LW flux.â Due to the troposphereic lapse rate, cloud-base height being higher, causes the cloud base to be at a lower temperature.

Sincerity is scary to The 1975, but going outside is fucking petrifying, so frontman Matty Healy’s just fine dipping into the former to confront the latter. A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships lead single "Give Yourself a Try" is a call to recognize one’s self-worth and become a part of the world, and its emotional directness is nearly as shocking as the sound of its distorted, piercing guitar riff crackling out of the speakers. It’s about Healy’s own isolation, of course, but also about his fans, and also about everyone, which is why his free-associative lyrics about whiskey and baby boomers and the absence of context in modern Internet dialogue always drop out in time to not disturb the simple plea of the chorus. "If you’re so clever, then why are you on your own tonight?" a different Manchester rock icon famously asked back in 1986. Three decades later, Healy might not quite have the answer, but damn if he isn’t at least trying. – A.U.
The line didn’t say “aliens are gods,” it said “beings we may meet that seem like gods might indeed just be sufficiently advanced aliens.”
Syfy’s return to space opera is like "Game of Thrones," but with interplanetary travel. Mixing a murder mystery and a Cold War conspiracy story, "The Expanse" is full of zero-gee special effects and characters flying around the solar system, trying to prevent a war that could end humanity. The first season is available to stream on Amazon, while the second season recently wrapped up on Syfy.
