In September 1960, new teacher Margaret Liebert surveyed the classroom she had carefully laid out for her first group of students at Tuckahoe Elementary School in Henrico County.

"Heart To Break” is a song about the strongest type of emotion – the feeling of being so hopelessly devoted to someone else that even if the whole things cataclysmically, it would still be worth it – and Kim Petras, a German singer whose Scandinavian-influenced electro-pop sounds cryogenically frozen from 2010, possesses the type of ecstatic vocal approach needed to properly convey that commitment. Simply put, Petras sings the crap out of the “Heart To Break” hook, shooting to the top of her register and drawing out her syllables (“I tried to fiiiiiiight, but I can’t hellllllllp it”) with a lung-deflating fervor. No other chorus this year has been more fun to sing along with in a high-as-helium falsetto, and because of it, Petras became one of underground pop’s best breakthrough stories this year. — J. Lower in the diagram on the right shows the drills at Hollister are working to define the mineralization trends in West Gloria, Central Hollister, and Guinevere for near-term mining. The development advancing to the east toward the Hatter Graben provides underground drill platforms for the drilling of targets in the East Clementine area and into the Hatter Graben late in the year. Surface drilling is planned to begin in April, with the goal of extending the Hatter Graben resource to the east.

Interesting, I’ve read a little about the the potential seasonal bias of ocean and other samples and how they could not reconcile outputs with physical models.

- We also learn that Han acquired his signature DL-44 blaster from Tobias Beckett, who is quite the gunslinger. You can read more about the making of the DL-44 here. – Like in Solo, Han also joins the Imperial Academy in The Paradise Snare. In the sequel, The Hutt Gambit, Han is discharged from the Imperial military for helping Chewbacca escape slavery. In the movie, Han doesn’t necessarily leave the Empire because of its xenophobic stance on slaves. Instead, saving Chewie is sort of a circumstantial part of Han’s escape from the frontlines.  Ultimately, Lucasfilm keeps the classic origin of Han and Chewie’s partnership: Han saved Chewie from slavery, which is how they became partners.  – One thing that’s never mentioned is Chewie’s life debt to Han. It’s not clear whether that’s ultimately still canon. In Solo, it seems like Chewie chooses to stay with Han simply because they’re friends.  – The movie never explains how Han learned Shyriiwook, the language spoken by Chewbacca. However, in The Paradise Snare, it’s revealed that Han learned the Wookiee language aboard the Trader’s Luck from a female Wookiee named Dewlannamapia, who raised the young boy as her own son.  In case you’re wondering, there are three Wookiee languages in total: Shyriiwook, Thykarann, and Xaczik.

Thank you. And our next question comes from Matthew Fields from Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Your line is now open.

For me, the Star Trek franchise serves as a hopeful window into humanity’s future. Although TOS writers made some missteps in predicting the how the 20th Century would end (see: Eugenics Wars, DY-100 Sleeper Ships, and NOMAD), I’ve always been able to explain that away as some dating error made by Starfleet (especially when it’s been contradicted in later series like DS9 – sorry Greg Cox, I love your books though). Now, the writers seem to be doubling down on a timeline created over 20 years ago. My concern is that this timeline seems less and less realistic as the present moves further into Star Trek’s “past.”

TOS and TNG are products of their times. Discovery shouldn’t be limited by those shows. Having the show set in the 24th century just to show holograms makes no sense to me since we already have holograms in 2019.

@Afterburn — not to mention reconcile a bit better with canon as to why there was anything left of Pike, or anyone else, to save after a phaser on overload, which only a few years earlier on Talos, threatened to kill the entire landing party.

36. "Max Payne" (2008)Most videos games aren’t really suited for film adaptations, but "Max Payne" is an exception as violent melodramatic noir. To its credit, the movie version goes for that, keying into the game’s ideas and vision and broadening it into a visual approach that’s generally kind of interesting. It can’t quite hold it all together, though.
