Rez’s mix of soothing and exciting musical levels can be a little intense to experience inside a headset, but if you’ve got the resolve they make for an absolutely hypnotic world to explore. Not to mention that the new Area X mode is an absolute joy to explore in VR, letting you off the reigns for the first time to discover a seemingly unending amount of fantastical sights and sounds. Special shout out goes to the super-capable Daydream port, too.

Okay. My other questions were really more for Larry with respect to Greens Creek — Larry and Dean. I guess the first thing, you’ve got some exploration and potential reserve additions coming at Greens. Can you give us a sense, Dean, what that’s going to look like in terms of the reserve grade you’ve got there at Greens Creek? I think you’re on the order of, what, 400 grams silver now? Are these areas likely to be consistent with that and kind of maintain a similar level of silver?
Importantly, they also stayed on the right side of cheesy. Family flashbacks et al. have often made me cringe in past Trek, but they did not feel cheesy in this episode. I particularly want to commend composer Jeff Russo for the subtle and atmospheric music in this episode. Particularly the Angel vision could have been such a cheesy moment drowned out by soppy strings in typical movie score fashion, but instead the subtle and ethereal score succeeded in making it a moment of wonder. Also, the Discovery musical theme worked for me for the first time in the haunting way it was arranged in the final moments of the episode.
The most “Star Trek” episode to date – and everything the season opener was not. While that latter was “like a movie”, it was like an Abramstrek movie, full of flashy set pieces with a story built around them, garish attempts at humour, a severely out of character Pike and everyone just acting emotional for the sake of it.
But yes I think the 23rd century idea of the PD is either less defined or at least less strictly followed. But the point remains, they’re still violations of the basic tenant which is: “don’t interfere with less advanced civilizations.”
I’m curious what Trek you like because IMO this episode as a stand alone was better than anything I ever saw on any iteration other than TNG
Wayward Sky’s whimsical mix of third-person diorama-style gameplay and first-person interactive moments still make for one of the most comfortable, active experiences in VR. You explore a floating fortress, solving puzzles and overcoming obstacles as you search for your captured father. Examining the gorgeous visuals from third-person is a pure delight, but it’s the more intimate moments of first-person interaction that really make the game sing. This is one of VR’s most underrated adventures for sure.
