- For the younglings reading this guide, Lando Calrissian was first played by the wonderful Billy Dee Williams in The Empire Strikes Back. He also reprised his role in Return of the Jedi (he blew up the second Death Star!!!) and has voiced Lando on the Rebels animated series. – Lando has "retired" from smuggling by the time we meet him in Solo. If you’d like to see the most charming con man in the galaxy at his smuggling best, check him out in Rebels season 1 episode 11, "Idiot’s Array," as well as Marvel’s Lando miniseries by Charles Soule and Alex Maleev, which is just brilliant. – "The Lando Chronicles" are a reference to The Lando Calrissian Adventures, a trilogy of novels written by L. Neil Smith in 1983. The books are Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon, and Lando Calrissian and the Starcave of ThonBoka.  – The scene where Lando is chronicling his adventures opens up two possibilities about the con man: 1) The Lando Calrissian Adventures are an in-universe fabrication, created by Lando to make him seem more adventurous than he actually is, and 2) the events in the novels take place before Solo. We’re going to assume the former because it’s more fun. – While recording "The Lando Chronicles," Lando references "the Sharu." They’re the advanced alien race featured in Mindharp of Sharu.  – Lando’s droid companion, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge with a scene-stealing performance, is named L3-37. The name is reference to "LEET," which is an English alphabet unique to the internet where you use numbers and symbols to replace certain letters. You can read way more about LEET here.  – Both standalones have featured memorable droids and Lucasfilm may be naming them in a specific order. K-2SO stole the show in Rogue One and L3-37 does the same in Solo. If the studio is going in a specific order, then "L3" would follow "K2." By this logic, the next standalone may feature a droid named "M4."

The B-plot for “New Eden” focuses on the scientific dynamic duo of Stamets and Tilly, with Anthony Rapp and Mary Wiseman continuing to show some of the best character chemistry for the series. Tilly is overly excited (which perhaps is her normal setting) that the spore drive gives Stamets a reason to stay on the ship. However, Paul – still clearly in pain – is concerned he could get lost again in the mycelial network, revealing he thinks his dead partner Hugh still exists in there in some form. The young ensign takes it upon herself to do some mad science with the giant floating rock of dark matter captured in “Brother,” but this attempt to find an alternative form of spore navigation literally blows up in her face, sending her to sickbay.

Well, since William didn’t say much about what he concluded other than he felt “there was something more,” who are you to judge, Afterburn, how someone makes sense of surviving the trauma of what sound like two near-death experiences? Isn’t it more absurd to be unkind? You might have concluded if you had the same experiences that you and your family had beaten the odds. Fine. I do wish they’d stopped for a sec and talked it through. Those kinds of things are sometimes more for the audience than the characters, to show thoughtfulness and point out the ethical issues around it. The episode was only 43 minutes long, they certainly had the time to spare.

And I agree, I don’t like the endless name calling and attacks on people who are just trying to make a good show. I have never shied away from my issues but I have never called anyone who worked on it with any immature name calling over it, ever. I wish more people on the internet could feel free to express themselves on the internet without sounding like bullies or trolls to others but yeah.
