FOX 5′s Mike Thomas said the amount of precipitation wasn’t the main concern, but rather the timing of weather system that raised the possibility of issues for the after-school and after-work drive home.
Without cheating and going to Memory Alpha, I’m trying to remember how many episodes we had of the Preservers… And if it was only that one, then, yeah, the asteroid deflector.
- Chewbacca wears an ammunition belt across his chest throughout the Original and Sequel Trilogies. He wears two belts in Solo. – Chewie doesn’t have his famous bowcaster in this movie. Instead, he equips a regular blaster rifle. – We need to talk about that Kessel Run. Han completes allegedly zooms through the dangerous smuggling route in "less than 12 parsecs." It’s revealed that this is a lie fabricated by Han. When mentioning that he’s completed the run in 12 parsecs, Chewie questions this. Han replies, "Not if you round down." This might also explain why Rey thought Han had completed the Kessel Run in 14 parsecs. It seems that there are conflicting accounts about Han’s exploits and the smuggler isn’t happy about it. – This is the first Star Wars movie not to feature the famous line, "I have a bad feeling about this, " but Han DOES deliver an offshoot of that: "I have a good feeling about this." Nicely played, Solo. – During his final standoff with Beckett, Han fires his blaster while his mentor is midway through a sentence. This is a reference to the "Han shot first" debacle from A New Hope. In this case, Han definitely DID shoot first. Listen to the latest Star Wars Blaster Canon podcast:
What happens when an 18-year-old who thought he had nothing more to lose, becomes embroiled in fake news on Facebook? (World Premiere)
Please don’t believe the common media portrayal of scientists. Science geeks actually come in all different flavors of personality. While I’ll admit that Tilly isn’t my favorite character, she distinctly reminds me of two friends from grad school days. Unfortunately Connolly does as well.
In a year when the cultural conversation around gender and sexual fluidity became more nuanced than ever, Japan-born, U.K.-bred Rina Sawayama’s breakout disco-pop single “Cherry” feels simultaneously revelatory and casual, avoiding the gimmicky trappings of past sexual-experimentation pop anthems. As she sings, “Holding onto feelings/ I’m not used to feeling / ‘Cause, oh, they make me feel alive,” Sawayama’s voice shoots skyward, pairing perfectly with her newly discovered freedom and acceptance of herself as a pansexual woman. – ERIC FRANKENBERG
Hi Mr. Owens… It is difficult to try and conduct an intelligent discussion with a block of concrete isn’t it.
The Hawaii Volcano Observatory is reporting that the two lava flows entering the ocean near the 13-mile marker have caused sulfur dioxide levels to triple. Then he told me the first of many daunting stories I would hear about the Dalton Highway. There was a thundershower, he said, lashing him with rain and hail so violently that he pulled over. When he tried to go again, the surface of the road had become so slippery that his bike wouldn’t move. “These will be better,” he said, gesturing to the Continental TKC80 knobs on my borrowed R1200GS Adventure. John shook my hand and wished me well, but the stories from the legendary road kept coming—foremost, the notorious train of semitrucks that call the Haul Road home.
Arriving in Deadhorse at Prudhoe Bay was surreal. Nobody who does this trip gets any fanfare. There are no flashbulbs or champagne. Only an overwhelming sense that if it weren’t for the few steel buildings in this vast and vicious place, you would be utterly screwed. And because of that, there’s a sense of camaraderie for those you’re with. I leapfrogged with a handful of motorcyclists on Haul Road, all of whom deserve more credit than I can claim—Johns of various ilk who had earned their Dalton prize.
